• Lee Ann Felder had a fabulous season with Washington University in St. Louis. It’s a Div. III school that reached the NCAA finals against defending champion Messiah. Washington lost 1-0. Felder, a sophomore forward, started in all 24 games, scoring six goals and having eight assists. She had three game-winning shots. Washington finished the season 17-4-3.
• Tommie Graham helped Point Loma Nazarene University advance to the second round of the NAIA girls soccer tournament as it beat No. 4 seed Azusa Pacific via penalty kicks. The game ended 0-0. Graham hit one of three penalty kicks to advance. Point Loma finished 15-5-4 as it lost in the finals 2-0 to Lee (Tenn.)
• Liz Wong helped Aurora (Ill.) University reach the semi-finals of the Division II NCAA tournament. She was named Northern Athletic Conference’s player of the week in mid-October and later was named to the conference all-freshman team. She started at keeper and finished with a 13-5 overall record. She recorded 59 saves.
• CJ Kaufman, a senior, helped Akron University get to the championship of the men’s NCAA finals against No. 2 Virginia. Akron, the No. 1 team in the country and undefeated at 23-0-1, feel to the Cavaliers in penalty kicks after the two teams went 110 minutes of scoreless play.
• Katie McDermott was named an all-Atlantic 10 Conference for the third consecutive season. She became the first Fordham women’s soccer player to have such an honor. She was a previous second team member the past two years. This year, she had two goals and two assists. She was also named to the all-Championship team as Fordham lost in the conference finals.
• Alana Clark was named a co-MVP of the McNeese State team. Clark led the Cowgirls with nine goals and had two game-winning goals. She was also named to the all-SLC second team and a CoSIDA ESPN “The Magazine’’ District 6 Academic All-American first teamer.
• McNeese teammate Rebekah DeJonghe had a very nice freshman year. She played in 19 games, starting nine. She finished with four goals and one assist. She had 15 shots on goal. She had three goals in one game to start the season.
• Nick Marshall had a spectacular first year with Nevada-Las Vegas, being named to the all-Far West Region Third Team. It’s the first time a freshman at UNLV has earned all-region honors, and is the third Rebel in the past five years to earn the honor. Marshall had a team-high-tying eight goals and three assists. He tied for first in the MPSF in game-winning goals with three, including a golden goal in UNLV’s season-opening 1-0 upset on the road at Cal Poly.
• Emily Shuta, a sophomore at Pima Community College, was named a NJCAA All-American, getting named to the second team. The Aztec forward led her team to an ACCAC championship and 16-3 overall record by scoring a league-high 19 goals.
• Minh Vu, a freshman at Pima College, also earned a second team All-American honor. He finished second in goals in the conference and was second in total points with 42. Pima finished the season at 15-6-1.
